WHEEL OF THE YEAR
The King is Dead, Long Live the King!

Sun in Leo

With Sun in Leo and Earth in Aquarius, Lughnasadh is the energetic opposite of Imbolg along the continuum of personal power.

The God at Lughnasadh
With the sun at home in Leo, Lughnasadh is a powerful time.  Leo is the sign of self-expression, personal experience, and nobility, where the God now takes on his fated role of sacrificial king.  His willing offer of himself marks the first of the harvests.  The Green Man is slain to feed the populace and the seeds are gathered for the next cycle.

Earth in Aquarius

The Goddess at Lughnasadh
Where the God represents the king, the Goddess represents the kingdom.  With the earth moving from Capricorn into Aquarius, the Goddess as queen expands to become the Goddess as queendom.  Her focus shifts to the needs of the realm, ensuring the sacrifice of the God benefits the community.

Lughnasadh 2021
As the first of the harvest festivals, a major theme of Lughnasadh is sacrifice.  However, the energies of Lughnadsadh 2021 are particularly challenging with regard to the necessity of sacrifice, both personally and societally.
See my Sacrifice post for a deeper exploration of these energies.

GIRDLE OF THE GODDESS
In the language of Theodomy, the 12 signs of the zodiac are further divided into 36 primordial energies of the divine feminine, called the Girdle of the Goddess

At the time of Lughnasadh, the sun is in the 14th primordial energy activating Bast, the Goddess of life, vitality, health, joy, and celebration.
See my Bast post for more information.

Priestess Dawn

As the founder of Theodomy, Dawn combines her training in Gardnerian Witchcraft with her degrees in Psychology (B.A.) and Metaphysics (B.Msc.) to help others find connection with the divine and Self.
