While Imbolg is traditionally thought to be a time when we start to look towards the spring season, it is important to note that it is in fact the mid-point between Yule and Ostara.
THE WHEEL OF THE YEAR

The Sun has been moving through Aquarius – sign of innovation and humanitarianism – and has now reached the midpoint (15°) where Aquarian energies peak.
The sun/son born to the Goddess at Yule is now gaining his independence and developing towards his role as consort and father later in the Wheel of the Year. Yule marked the God’s birth, and at Imbolg he takes on the role of Lord of Life, representing creation and growth for the entire group. This archetype is further supported by the planetary ruler – Uranus – who, despite his name, actually embodies the Prometheus archetype – the God responsible for creation of man and giving him fire.

As for the Goddess, the Earth moves into Leo – the sign of nobility and selfhood – and the home of the Sun, the main source of heat and life here on Earth. Free of the dependent child, the Goddess is now able to focus on Herself, and Her other creative endeavours. It is in Her guise as Brid/Brigid/Brigantia – Goddess of inspiration and creativity – that She is most commonly honoured at Imbolg.
This is a time for inspirations and new beginnings. Light a candle in honour of the Goddess, and let Her spark ignite your sense of Self.
GIRDLE OF THE GODDESS
In the language of Theodomy, the 12 signs of the zodiac are further divided into 36 primordial energies of the divine feminine, called the Girdle of the Goddess.
At the time of Imbolg, the sun is in the 32nd primordial energy activating Brigid, the Goddess of Inspiration and Creativity. See my BRIGID post for more information.
